BREAKING NEWS: State University of Applied Medical Sciences, Enugu Elevates Dr. Malachy Ezenwaeze Nwankwo to Associate Professor

The State University of Applied Medical Science, Igbo-Ano, Enugu State has approved the elevation of Dr Malachy Ezenwaeze Nwankwo (MBBS, MSc, PhD, FWACS) to the rank of Associate Professor.
The elevation crowns an outstanding career that bridges clinical excellence, cutting-edge research, and medical education. Dr. Ezenwaeze earned his MBBS in 2012 from ESUT College of Medicine, graduating among the top ten in his class with automatic internship placement. He proceeded to obtain an MSc in Pharmacology and Therapeutics from the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (2017).

Following six years of structured postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, he was admitted as a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) in 2023. In 2025, he completed a PhD in Pharmacology and Therapeutics at ESUT, graduating with distinction.

A prolific scholar with over 70 peer-reviewed publications in reputable local and international journals, Dr. Ezenwaeze is also Founder and Medical Director of Newpath Specialist Hospital, New Haven, Enugu. He serves as a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (ESUT) and has lectured in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, ESUT College of Medicine, since 2017.

In recognition of his academic impact, he was appointed Associate Professor at the State University of Applied Medical Sciences, Igbo-Ano, in June 2025, and on 30 January 2026, was named Adjunct Associate Professor of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at ESUT.
A devout Christian and former National President of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students of Nigeria, Dr. Ezenwaeze is married and blessed with four children.
