A Respectful Clarification: No Financial Inducement Was Made to UK-Based Nigerians By Seyi Tinubu or Anyone During President Tinubu’s State Visit

We have taken note of a publication under the title: *”BUSTED: Seyi Tinubu Allegedly Paid £500 to UK-Based Nigerians to Rally Support for APC During Tinubu’s State Visit”,* and the allegations contained therein. Ordinarily, such claims, clearly lacking in substance, would not warrant a response. However, in view of the potential to mislead unsuspecting members of the public and to distort the integrity of public discourse, it has become necessary to set the record straight.

First and foremost, the allegation that Mr. Seyi Tinubu paid any money to any individual or group of Nigerians in the United Kingdom, or anywhere else, to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 is entirely false, baseless, and without any credible evidence. At no time did such an incident occur. The story is a fabrication that does not stand up to scrutiny.

For clarity, Mr. Seyi Tinubu was in London as part of a broader delegation of the CityBoy Movement that accompanied the President’s entourage during the recent state visit to the United Kingdom. The visit provided a legitimate and constructive platform for engagement, including a stakeholders’ interaction between the leadership of the CityBoy Movement and members of its UK Chapter. Such engagements are consistent with the Movement’s ongoing efforts to connect with Nigerians across the diaspora and to foster unity and shared purpose.

It is important to underscore that Nigerians living in the United Kingdom, like their counterparts elsewhere in the world, retain the constitutional and democratic right to express support for their country and its leadership. Any show of solidarity witnessed during the President’s visit was voluntary, organic, and borne out of personal conviction, not the result of inducement, coercion, or financial incentive from Mr. Seyi Tinubu or any government official.

We respectfully urge members of the public, particularly commentators and media platforms, to exercise restraint, responsibility, and due diligence in the dissemination of information. The propagation of unverified and sensational claims does little to advance constructive national dialogue. Rather, it undermines trust and distracts from meaningful engagement on issues that truly matter.

Mr. Seyi Tinubu remains committed to positive nation-building. His focus continues to be on fostering inclusiveness, building bridges across Nigeria and the diaspora, and creating platforms for mentoring and preparing young Nigerians for leadership and service. These efforts are grounded in a genuine desire to contribute to a stronger, more united, and more prosperous Nigeria.

While respecting the constitutional right of all citizens, especially the youth, to hold and express divergent opinions, we humbly submit that the collective energy of Nigerians is better directed towards constructive engagement, solution-driven discourse, and collaborative nation-building. A better and greater Nigeria cannot be built on the foundation of speculation, misinformation, or unfounded allegations.

In conclusion, we encourage all well-meaning Nigerians, at home and abroad, to rise above divisive narratives and to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing task of national development.

Thank you.
